Dragon Ball Super's Goku Falls In Love With JoJo

Hirohiko Araki’s manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Japanese: ジョジョの奇妙な冒険, Hepburn: JoJo no Kimy a Broken) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by him. From 1987 to 2004, it was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine before being moved to the monthly seinen magazine Ultra Jump in 2005. The book is broken into eight story arcs, each following a different protagonist with the nickname “Jojo”; the eighth chapter, JoJolion, began serialization in May 2011 and is still ongoing. By volume count, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is Shueisha’s largest ongoing manga series, with 129 tanks on volumes collected as of December 2020.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Dragon Ball, two of the most popular and longest-running Seinen series of all time, both run in Shonen Jump and feature a diverse cast of powerful and distinct characters. There have also been several crossovers in fighting games like Jump Super Stars, Jump Ultimate Stars, J-Stars Victory VS, and Jump Force, demonstrating that fans desired to see these characters team-up.

Dragon Ball Super's Goku Falls In Love With JoJo

Although the two action-packed anime series, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Dragon Ball, are both Shonen franchises, the two action-packed anime series could not be more different, however, it appears as if the two series have been joined by Sean Schemmel, the voice of the English Goku, declaring his appreciation for the series produced by Hirohiko Araki. Though there are currently no plans for Schemmel to join the Stand franchise, given that he hasn’t provided any of the voices in prior seasons, it’s certainly possible that his newfound enthusiasm for the brand will lead him to join the universe of the Joestars at some time in the future.

Sean Schemmel has been Goku for almost two decades, contributing his voice to the Shonen brand founded by Akira Toriyama not only in anime but also in various video games and other media. Furthermore, Schemmel has created characters for a variety of other anime series, including One Piece, Berserk, Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu Yu Hakusho, and many others. With the recent announcement of a new Dragon Ball Super film, it’s evident that Schemmel will continue to play Goku for a long time.

Following a few episodes of Hirohiko Araki’s anime adaptation, Schemmel took to his own Twitter account to show his admiration for the anime series, even going so far as to suggest that he is prepared to alter his name in order to honor the universe of the Joestars and their Stands:

While Dragon Ball may be the talk of the town right now thanks to the revelation that a new film based on the franchise would be released, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure made headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that Part Six, Stone Ocean, will be getting its own anime adaptation. While we don’t know if David Production will return after working on all of the previous seasons of the show, fans are hoping that the animation company will return to the Joestars universe.
